cold is coming and bringing no snow.

I feel its pointless to have bitter cold weather if you have no snow to play in. Honestly the snow makes all the difference for me. If its in the 20s-30s and sunny I don't want to be outside at all. If its in the 20s-30s but with snow all I want to do is be out in it. Maybe its because snow is such a rarity for us. We've already gotten one morning of flurries and a tiny bit of accumulation. I'm hoping that's not it! We had gorgeous fog for a good bit of the day today. There is an extra quiet about fog. I don't know why it happens but it does every time. I really like driving in it.

The house is all decorated. We've got one medium size tree and 4 miniature trees. Josh put lights out in the front and they look awesome. We are ready to have a house full on Christmas day! I wouldn't have it any other way. I cleaned out some of the freezer so that I may begin baking early. I don't like freezing things though. I like fresh baked the day of the holiday. Speaking of baking, I was watching one of Martha Stewart's holiday baking and decorating shows. She had one of the shows chefs on this particular clip and they were baking one of this girls cookie recipes. She had shaped this cookie to look like a creature. Martha looked at the cookie and was explaining how this chef had made a creature and then she looked at the chef and said "this cookie kind of looks like you!!!". I had to pause it, rewind it, and make sure I had heard that correctly. Then I called Josh in to watch it...we've been laughing ever since. Martha must not have learned much kindness on her visit to prison.

stocking stuffers

While running errends this week, I did a Target run. I know that its getting closer and closer to Christmas time, and for that very reason I don't buy anything for myself. I stopped down the aisle where they have hair rubberbands and such. I saw these clippies right away, for $5, and I just couldn't resist. I figured since my hair is long and I may want to pull it up at some point over the holidays, how nice would these be to dress up pulled up hair? I just wanted to post these because if any of you are struggling to find stocking stuffers you just can't go wrong with pretty hair things!

getting ready to watch the Cowboys play-

Here are a few shots from our cozy Thanksgiving! I used Ina Garten's herb roasted turkey breast recipe for the turkey. I've never roasted turkey (or chicken for that matter) and was very surprised at how perfect it come out! Josh took care of the sweet potato casserole and it turned out delicious. I made amazing stuffing (another first for me)...the seasoning was perfect in it also. I will make it again with roast chicken. Josh made some meatballs and I ate some delicious cranberry sauce out of the can. I'm so glad I didn't make any dessert (as of yet) we are stuffed!!! Have a good one y'all-

Another Year. Another Thanksgiving.

I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Just don't forget to be thankful for the "things" that are important.

hmmm.

The sun finally came out all day today. I don't know what I would have done if it hadn't. The pugs are extra snorty and cuddled in the big white blankie this morning. Josh made peppers and bacon and eggs (for himself of course!) He is cleaning up his office now and I maybe should run the vacuum in a minute. We are so blessed and are looking forward to the quietest of Thanksgivings and a week of preparing for the holidays. It should be great :)

these days

The days that I want to be longer are always the shortest ones! I don't like to scramble to get holiday gifts. I like them to be well thought out and creative. Needless to say, I haven't bought a single thing yet. That's ok though, I plan on knocking out most of it in a single day. We will see how that goes.

We had a nice warm up out here in the country today. The other day while spending time outside with the dog I was miserable. I haven't bought socks in quite a while and I found that many of my cute little J. Crew socks had begun to wear and develop holes. Actually, I want to say I've thrown out maybe 4 pairs in the past 2 weeks. I just found myself standing there freezing and really irritated. So Josh, Mitzu, and I did an Old Navy run...I begged and said "Josh please go in and pick me out some new fleece and warm socks" I'm going to have to send him in next time. He come out with a bag full of treats. So the past couple of days have been much better going outside braving the wind and cold. Today I found myself sweating in my warm clothes...it must have made it well into the 70s. I think we are in for more rain though and chillier weather.

Josh and I have been on kind of a movie kick. We are lucky to have netflix and a roku. We also have a blu ray player that streams our netflix instant queue. Josh is pretty good about picking up movies we've wanted to see too. We have had a couple of scary ones recently. Orphan was good...creepy. He got Drag me to Hell, which so far I think is the scariest we've seen lately. Last night we watched Trick R Treat. I really enjoyed it...couldn't figure out why...I thought it was nicely put together...Josh thinks I like it because it was like Tales From The Crypt (which I used to love to watch!!!!!). We will be watching Land of the Lost tonight. Josh said Best Buy had awesome prices on some blu ray movies. He got us Requiem For a Dream (one of my all time faves!) for like 10 bucks. Oh and don't forget Twilight. Just don't tell anyone I said that or watched it or own it...ok? I was very surprised that I enjoyed it. Now I can't wait to see the new one...again don't tell anyone I said that.

Well I must get my hair dried and continue working on address list for the holiday photos and cards! Have a good one-

I am the pack leader-

So I went in to get in a really hot bath since its so cold out and it makes my feet feel nice. I hear some snort snorts outside the door. Libby came in and got on the bed. Not 15 minutes later I hear more snorts...Mitzu had left Josh in the living room to play the xbox and had also come and gotten on the bed. I can't leave the room for 5 minutes without at least one, if not both, of the pugs coming to find me. Its really funny. Hope no one needs out tonight. Its cold!
